Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Walk

The Washington County Gay Straight Alliance, Inc. will host a Candlelight Walk through downtown Washington on Monday, November 20, 2017, to recognize Transgender Day of Remembrance.

All are welcome to participate and walking after the program is optional. The program/walk will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 1793, at 100 East Wheeling Street, and end with refreshments and fellowship at The CENTER on Strawberry, 59 E. Strawberry Avenue, Washington, PA.

This is the fifth year the WCGSA has locally held this national event which honors transgender people who have died due to violence, hate, and discrimination.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance memorial is an international movement and has been held on November 20th each year since its creation in 1998.
