Who we are and What we are doing -

The Washington County Gay Straight Alliance, Inc. has facilitated and provided resources for a peer group of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Questioning, Queer, Asexual, and Allied (LGBTQA) youth since November 2005. The WCGSA formed a Nonprofit Corporation in August, 2012, to expand programming and services. On July 2, 2014, we received 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service. In Sept., 2014, we took over hosting 2nd Friday Nights Potluck, a monthly social gathering for the LGBTQA community of all ages. Our long- term goal is to establish a welcoming Community Center in Washington for all ages. It is an unfortunate reality that in small towns and rural areas like Washington County there are not as many social opportunities or healthy lifestyle resources available to our youth and the LGBTQA population in general. The WCGSA provides some of these opportunities and is evolving to meet the growing need to do more.
